Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee defeated a motion by Democrats attempting to block a vote on Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination. Democrats previously swore to do everything possible to stall the nomination and they took the first step in their attempt to fulfill that promise today by putting forward a motion to block any committee vote on Barrett’s nomination until after the 2020 presidential elections.
